Subject: Ways you can help Kill the Drill!

Dear Friend,

As you know, on October 1st my office launched the “Kill the Drill” campaign to prevent gas drilling in New York City’s upstate watershed. Since then, a powerful coalition of elected officials, community leaders and environmental advocates has been forming to stand up and say NO to this dangerous threat and demand that our drinking water be protected.

You’ve been a great ally so far — here are some ways that you can continue working to prevent gas drilling in our watershed!

1. Send a letter to Governor Paterson calling for an extension to the public comment period on the State’s proposed rules for natural gas drilling in New York.

2. Attend the rally! Join us on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 5pm outside Stuyvesant High School, 345 Chambers Street (between the West Side Highway and Hudson River Park).

3. Testify before the State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), directly following the rally – Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 7pm inside Stuyvesant High School, 345 Chambers Street.

4. Ask your friends and coworkers to join our Facebook page to become a partner in the “Kill the Drill” campaign and stay updated on the latest news and events.

5. Officially join the movement to “Kill the Drill” and spread the word! Email Sari Bernstein of my office at sbernstein@manhattanbp.org or call 212-669-8151 to be listed as a member of the campaign, and please forward this message to your networks and encourage them to join.

We challenge you to find at least 5 friends today to join our campaign!

For more information check out http://www.facebook.com/l/1ae77;www.mbpo.org/killthedrill where you’ll find my office’s “Uncalculated Risk” report, press releases and statements, news articles, testimony, and more.

Together, we can speak up loud and clear to “Kill the Drill!”

Thank you and best wishes,

Scott M. Stringer
